WinStar Farm’s First-Crop sire Audible had a trio of horses bring at least $275,000 during Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling sale, topped by a $375,000 colt.
Audible’s average price on the day was $316,667, more than 12 times his stud fee.
Taylor Made Sales Agency was the consignor of Audible’s top-priced colt, hip No. 174. The winning bidder was Chad Schumer, agent, who also purchased Audible’s hip No. 109, a filly, for $300,000.
Hip 174 is out of Downside Scenario, who is the dam of Bourbon S. (G2) winner Mutasaabeq. Downside Scenario is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Cool Cowboy and Catching Diamonds, dam of Grade 1 winner White Abarrio.
“We have a share in Audible and we have supported him every single year, breeding multiple mares to him.” Machmer Hall’s Carrie Brogden said of Audible’s attraction. “I just love what I am seeing. They all look fast and they have great minds.”
Audible earned over $2.1 million in a career that included wins in the Florida Derby (G1) and Holy Bull S. (G2). He bred 408 mares in his first two season and stood for $25,000 this year.
