Well-bred Sidney’s Candy 2yo scores in debut

The Tascosa Kid rallied for a neck victory in a maiden special weight on Saturday at Hawthorne to become the sixth winner of the year for First-Crop sire Sidney’s Candy. The WinStar stallion, who will stand in 2016 for $10,000 live foal, was bred to 136 mares this year.

Making his debut for owner/trainer Hugh Robertson, The Tascosa Kid rallied strongly in the stretch, making up four lengths in the final furlong to win by a neck in 1:11.70 for the six furlongs.

Bred in Kentucky by Gary and Mary West, The Tascosa Kid is the first foal out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Mercurial Menace, who is a half-sister to Cigar Mile (G1) winner Purge.
