Victim of Love became one of Speightstown’s two stakes winners on Saturday when she defeated multiple stakes winner Needs Supervision by nearly four lengths in the $100,000 What A Summer S. at Laurel Park.
Saturday’s win was the second stakes victory for the 4-year-old filly. She sports a record of 4-1-2 from 12 outings, with earnings of $171,829 for Tommy Town Thoroughbreds.
Going to the front right from the gate, she battled with Hey Mamaluke through a half-mile in :45.40 before pulling away at the top of the stretch and winning comfortable over the off track.
“She’s really hard-knocking and she always tries really hard,” winning jockey Weston Hamilton said. “I knew she had a little bit of fire in her; she’s got a little speed. So, I just sat against her nice and she was good enough to get the job done.”
The winner is trained by Todd Beattie and was bred in Kentucky by Daniel Burke. Victim of Love is one of three stakes winners out of Spacy Tracy, who won the Top Flight H. (G2).
Speightstown’s other stakes winner Saturday was Bobby’s Wicked One, who won the Duncan Kenner at Fair Grounds. The WinStar stallion also had a new TDN Rising Star when Echo Town debuted a very sharp maiden special weight winner, at Fair Grounds as well.
