Take Charge Tom proved best in the Dec. 27 Lost In the Fog Juvenile S. at Turf Paradise to become First-Crop sire Tom’s d’Etat’s first stakes winner [WATCH RACE].
The WinStar stallion, who also accounted for the maiden special weight winner Thankfully on Dec. 26 at Gulfstream Park, now has 17 individual winners.
Take Charge Tom, who won his Dec. 4 debut by 9 ¼-lengths, battled with several horses for the early lead in the 6 ½-furlong Juvenile. Going into the turn, he and Roman Gratis were head-to-head for the top spot. Take Charge Tom took over for good turning for home, then comfortably held off Don’t Fly Stand By to win by a half-length.
The winner is owned by his breeder Randy Howg. Take Charge Tom is out of the three-time stakes winner Gorgeous Ginny.
Thursday at Gulfstream, Thankfully won by the same margin in a five-furlong turf race for 2-year-old fillies. She was on the lead the entire trip and repelled challenges from both Theatrix and Unshakable to secure the win.
Thankfully races for the JR Ranch and was bred in Kentucky by SF Bloodstock LLC. Thankfully is the second foal out of the stakes winner Southern Sis.
Tom’s d’Etat, winner of the Clark H. (G1) and Stephen Foster H. (G2) at Churchill Downs, will stand the 2025 season at WinStar for $5,000 S&N.
