Ring Leader turned in a very impressive race on Jan. 24, her first start of 2020, rolling to a 5 1/4-length victory in a six-furlong allowance race for 3-year-old fillies.
The daughter of Paynter hadn’t been seen since breaking her maiden in her debut last summer, but was primed for a big effort on Friday. She was in front soon after the start and led the field by a length for the first half-mile, then opened up in the lane to win going away (VIDEO).
The winner is owned by Novogratz Racing Stable and was bred in Kentucky by George Krikorian. Out of Ringmistress, she hails from the family of two-time champion filly and mare Life’s Magic.
After finishing 2019 as a top-five Third-Crop sire, Paynter is off to an excellent start with his runners in 2020. He has already accounted for Astra S. (G3) winner Ms Peintour and a pair of stakes-placed runners this month.
