El Pando drew off smartly in the final furlong of the $100,000 Clever Trevor S. on Oct. 29 at Remington Park to give the 2-year-old Outwork colt his first stakes victory (WATCH RACE).
Coupled with his 8 ¾-length debut maiden win on Sept. 21, the Jaylan Clary homebred is two-for-two lifetime with earnings of $79,545.
El Pando, in post four, tucked in nicely just behind the leaders who carved out a quarter in :22.11. He held his spot most of the way around the turn before switching to the three-path coming into the stretch. El Pando easily went by the leaders and pulled away with ease in the final furlong, winning by 3 3/4-lengths to get the seven panels in 1:24.13.
Outwork is the sire of five stakes winners and 11 stakes horses in 2021, both the third-most on this year’s Second-Crop sire list. Outwork, after breeding 146 mares in 2021, will stand 2022 for $10,000 S&N.
