Sea Level’s strong stretch run carried the 2-year-old Exaggerator filly to a 3 3/4-length victory in Sunday’s $50,000 E. L. Gaylord Memorial S. at Remington Park (WATCH RACE).
Sea Level, who won her Aug. 23 debut at Indiana Grand by seven lengths, is a perfect two-for-two for the owner/breeder team of Joni and Barry Butzow.
Breaking from post four in the 6 1/2-furlong Gaylord, Sea Level sat about six lengths back of a trio of dueling front-runners for the first quarter-mile. She started her winning move about three furlongs from the wire, ultimately taking over with ease in midstretch, then finished up very nicely under Joel Rosario.
The winner, out of the Exchange Rate mare Miss Kekoa, has a foal half-brother by Yoshida (JPN).
Exaggerator is a top-10 Second-Crop sire this year, with three stakes winners, 60 winners, and the earners of $2.4 million to date.
