Two ‘Super’ chances in this year’s Breeders’ Cup

Super Saver, currently ranked third on the Second-Crop sire list, has two excellent chances to move to the top after Saturday with Runhappy in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) and Super Majesty in the Filly and Mare Sprint (G1).

Runhappy drew post 5 in the full field of 14 for the $1.5 million Sprint. He was installed the 3-1 second choice off a pair of incredible performances in the Kings Bishop S. (G1) at Saratoga and the Phoenix S. (G3) at Keeneland. The Maria Boreli trainee is undefeated this year and has won all five of his races around one turn. He’ll be ridden once again by Edgar Prado on Saturday.

Super Majesty provides plenty of intrigue for the $1 million Filly and Mare Sprint, run at seven furlongs. The 3-year-old filly has been nearly flawless in her four starts and is just a nose away from being undefeated. She earned a 101 Beyer Speed Figure in her 15-length allowance win in early July in southern California, and shipped to Kentucky to handily win the Dogwood S. (G3) at Churchill Downs in September.

Super Majesty drew post 6 of 14 distaffers and will be ridden by Alex Solis, her only jockey to date.

Both races are part of Saturday’s stellar card at Keeneland, with the Filly and Mare Sprint race 5 at 1:25 p.m. ET and the Sprint race 7 at 2:50 p.m. ET.
