Drawing off in the stretch while not being asked in the least, Journeytothemoon powered her way to a four-length allowance win Jan. 29 at Laurel Park.
The 3-year-old Tourist filly is now 2-1-0 in three starts and could be headed to stakes company following Thursday’s victory at one mile. Journeytothemoon is one of Tourist’s five winners this month, tying him for the top spot on the Second-Crop Sire list.
Journeytothemoon came from near the back of the seven-horse field at the half-way point, threading her way between and around horses on the turn before pulling clear with complete authority as her rider peeked back for the competition.
The winner is owned by Best A Luck Farm LLC, Cal Lin Racing, and Alex Levengood. She was bred in Kentucky by Jory Sherman and Don Blowe.
