Into Touring scored a decisive turf maiden special weight win on Aug. 1 at Del Mar, coming from well off the pace to win the one-mile race for 2-year-old fillies by a length.
She is the 29th winner this year for Tourist, who, along with his 37 wins, ranks in the top 10 on the Second-Crop sire list in both categories.
Into Touring, who broke from the far outside in the field of 10, had no choice but to drop back early and take up a spot some six lengths from the front in the first quarter-mile. She held her position until a half-mile to run, when she began to inch closer. She found an opening at the top of the stretch between horses, and proceeded to run down La Deuxieme Etoile in the final furlong.
The winner is trained by Mark Casse for her owner/breeder Gary Barber. The bay filly is the first foal out of the Into Mischief mare Smokin Mischief.
