A pair of colts from the first crop of Fed Biz during Tuesday evening’s session of the Aug. 7-8 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearlings sale brought an average price of $217,500, more than 17 times his bred-on stud fee of $12,500.
Hip No. 130, consigned by Select Sales as agent for Machmer Hall, topped the day’s results with a winning bid of $275,000 for JSM Equine LLC. The dark bay is the first foal out of Ascot Mamma, who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Five Star Momma.
Hip No. 120, consigned by Chilly Bleak Farm, went to Colts Neck Stables for $160,000. The dark bay’s dam, Angel’s Flight, is a half-sister to a trio of stakes winners, including Grade 2 winner Tale of a Champion.
Fed Biz, a top-10 weanling first-crop sire of 2016, holds a similar position for this year’s yearling sales. He covered a total of 275 mares in 2015-16, his first two seasons at stud.
