Too Tall Tony repelled several challenges to claim a half-length maiden special weight victory Saturday on the Louisiana Downs turf course (VIDEO).
The 2-year-old colt is winner number 16 for leading First-Crop Sire Overanalyze, which is six more than any other freshman sire this year. The WinStar stallion has six winners this month alone and is on pace to far outdo last year’s freshman sire top figure of 20 individual winners.
Too Tall Tony had the lead nearly the entire 7 ½-furlong trip, taking command going into the first turn, and was briefly headed on the backstretch, before reasserting himself to lead the rest of the way.
The winner was bred in Kentucky by Wayne, Gray and Bryan Lyster and is out of the Elusive Quality mare Evasive, who has produced six runners, all winners.
