Tiznow, the only two-time winner of the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), has a pair of starters in this year’s renewal of the year-end championships at Keeneland.
In addition to his historical Breeders’ Cup wins, Tiznow is the sire of 2005 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner Folklore.
In this weekend’s races, My Sweet Addiction will start in the $2 million Distaff (G1) on Friday, while Tourist makes his start in the $2 million Mile (G1) on Saturday afternoon.
Five-year-old My Sweet Addiction earned a Breeders’ Cup berth with a win in the Vanity S. (G1) this summer at Santa Anita. She also finished second in her most recent start, the Zenyatta S. (G1), also at Santa Anita, behind two-time champion Beholder, who is racing in this year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1).
Trained by Marty Jones for Pam Ziebarth, My Sweet Addiction drew post 6 in the 14-horse field. She’ll be ridden by Mike Smith, the Breeders’ Cup all-time leading jockey in money earned and races won. The Distaff runs as race 9 at 5:35 p.m. ET on Friday.
Tourist is part of a very contentious Mile field, with 12 horses from five different countries. Tourist, bred by WinStar Farm and owned in partnership with Gary Barber. Tourist had a terribly wide trip in last year’s running of this race, but has come back strong since, winning the $300,000 More Than Ready S. at Kentucky Downs and finishing third, beaten just a neck for the win, in the Shadwell Turf Mile (G1) Oct. 3 at Keeneland.
Trained by Bill Mott, Tourist drew post 6 and will be ridden by Jose Lezcano in Saturday’s 8th race, which runs at 3:30 p.m.
