Tiz Windy powered to a 2 ¾-length victory in the $200,000 Indiana Oaks (G2) on Saturday evening, the tenth stakes winner of 2014 for Tiznow. A perennial leading sire, Tiznow’s progeny have topped the $6.3 million in earnings this year.
Tiz Windy was in the back half of the 11-horse field for the first half-mile, then unleashed a powerful three-wide move to pull even with Unbridled Forever in mid-stretch, then drew off late with similar power to get the 1 1/16-miles in a very solid 1:42.70
With the win, Tiz Windy has now earned $227,833, scoring four wins in 11 starts. Tiz Windy’s second dam is a full-sister to late owner/breeder Jim Tafel’s champion 3-year-old filly Banshee Breeze.
