Enstone chalked up her second stakes win of 2017 on July 9 in the $225,000 Bison City S. at Woodbine, leading nearly the entire 1 1/16-mile trip to win by a length.
The 3-year-old filly is Tiznow’s third stakes winner in the past two weeks. The WinStar stallion has 10 stakes horses overall this year, led by Blue Grass S. (G2) and Ohio Derby (G3) winner Irap, who has won exactly $1 million in 2017.
Enstone came out of the gate smartly and moved to the rail as the field made its way into the first turn. Under a nice hold from Patrick Husbands, the bay filly galloped through the first half-mile in :50.17 seconds. Mythical Mission tried to apply pressure on the far turn and down the stretch, but Enstone had plenty of energy in reserve to hold off her foe.
After the slow early pace, the final time was a respectable 1:44.88.
Enstone was bred by William Graham and is out of La Suena, who is a sister to both Grade 1 winner Forest Secrets and Grade 3 winner Rumor Has It. With Sunday’s win, Enstone improved her mark to 3-4-0 in 10 starts and has earned $298,010.
