With a huge turn of foot in the stretch, Tiz the Truth ran away from the field to break his maiden by 7 3/4-lengths Feb. 2 at Santa Anita. The 3-year-old son of Tiznow is a Mercedes Stables LLC homebred.
Tiz the Truth led gate-to-wire in the one mile maiden special weight contest, maintaining a length and a half lead for the first six furlongs before leaving the competition far behind at the head of the stretch.
Bred in Kentucky is out of the French Deputy mare Truly Blessed, making the bay colt a half-brother to Notional, a three-time graded stakes winner of $733,240.
Tiznow has started off 2013 in his usual fashion, with 11 winners and a pair of stakes horses in the first month of the year. He is standing this year at WinStar for $75,000 LFS&N.
