Tiz Breathtaking lived up to name with a fantastic performance in the $125,000 Shady Well S. at Woodbine, coming from the back of the pack to win going away by two lengths.
It was the first stakes win for the 2-year-old daughter of Tiznow, who is owned by her breeder William Graham of Windhaven Farms.
In the last month, Tiznow has had six black type horses, led by Nijinsky S. (G2) winner Tiz a Slam and Delaware Oaks (G3) champ Red Ruby.
Tiz Breathtaking broke well for jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva and was settled back next-to-last in the early going before fanning out five-wide and blowing by her competition in the stretch to score in 1:05 flat over 5-1/2 furlongs on the main track.
“She’s very, very professional,” said Da Silva after the race. “She’s a very calm filly and I chose to be relaxed and just wait for the stretch. She just ran relaxed and when I asked her she kicked from there.”
“She’s just getting bigger and stronger,” added winning trainer Mike Doyle. “She’s so laid back and nice, she’s like an older horse. There’s not one bad habit that she has. She’s just all nice stuff.”
Tiz Breathtaking has won two of her three starts, and encountered trouble in the My Dear S. on July 4, when she finished third but moved up to second after being interfered with in the stretch. She has now won $109,987.
