Top-10 First-Crop sire Speightster got his first stakes winner Saturday when That Kenney Kid won the $70,000 West Virginia Breeders’ Classic at Charles Town Races.
The bay 2-year-old filly is one her sire’s seven winners to date, while That Kenney Kid is also the third stakes horse his sire.
That Kenney Kid won the 6 1/2-furlong race by a length after stalking Shutupn’kissme before running her down in the final yards for her second win in four starts.
The winner was bred by Maurice F. Casey III and is owned by David Kenney and ERJ Racing LLC.
