Green Destiny won her stakes debut in the $100,000 Ellis Park Debutante on Sunday, drawing off in the final furlong to win by four lengths over Monedas de Oro (VIDEO).
The victory comes on the heels of the filly’s maiden win on July 14. The Clearsky Farms homebred is now 2-0-0 in three starts and has earned $91,560. the 2-year-old filly is her sire’s fourth stakes winner and 10th stakes horse overall this year.
Facing 10 foes in the seven-furlong contest, Green Destiny was away very alertly, battling the eventual runner-up through a half-mile in :46.49. Under a steady drive from Tyler Baze, Green Destiny forged ahead at the top of the stretch and ran powerfully to the wire to win with room to spare.
“She’s just getting better as she get’s older. She’s maturing and relaxed very good today,” said Baze in the winner’s circle.
Green Destiny is the second foal out of Defy Gravity, herself a stakes winner at 2. Defy Gravity is a half-sister to the Grade 1-winning filly Callback.
