Super Saver’s first yearlings hit the market

Kentucky Derby hero Super Saver will be represented by his first crop to hit the yearling sales market next month, as five yearlings are cataloged to sell at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale on July 15 in Lexington, KY.

Super Saver has gotten off to a great start at stud, breeding over 270 mares in his first two books. His first weanlings were well-received by the market in 2012, as 22 of them sold at public auction for an average of $61,000, with a handful of weanlings commanding six figures.

A WinStar homebred, Super Saver established a stakes record while winning the Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2) as a 2-year-old, before returning to Churchill at three for his Kentucky Derby (G1) triumph. Todd Pletcher was quoted in saying “He was my fastest 2-year-old” after Super Saver broke his maiden at Belmont earlier in the 2-year-old season.

Super Saver currently stands at WinStar for a fee of $20,000 stands and nurses.
