Constitution chalked up his eighth winner from his first crop on Friday evening at Del Mar when Strongconstitution led nearly all the way in a five-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds on the turf.
Constitution’s freshman class ranks in the top five by earnings, winners and black type horses, and he is the only First-Crop sire to have two graded stakes winners.
Strongconstitution need just a few jumps out of the gate to take a lead he would never relinquish, winning by 1 1/4-lengths in :56.93 on the firm turf.
The winner was bred by Stonehaven Steadings and is owned by Roadrunner Racing and Sayjay Racing. Strongconstitution was a $220,000 purchase in April at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training.
