Leading 2-year-old sire Super Saver had an excellent Wednesday at the OBS March 2-year-olds in Training Sale, with a $440,000 filly and $200,000 colt during the closing session of the two-day auction in central Florida.
Woodford Thoroughbreds, agent, consigned the filly, hip No. 305. She was purchased by trainer John Servis, as agent. The Kentucky-bred filly is the second foal out of the Grade 2-placed mare Macha.
Hip No. 432, a colt consigned by Pick View LLC, agent, went to Gary Contessa, agent for Susan Moulton. Out of the Broken Vow mare Return the Jewel, the colt’s deep female family includes champion Silken Cat, Grade 1 winner Mani Bhavan, and Grade 2 winner Hear the Ghost.
The sire of two champions and 24 individual 2-year-old winners last year, Super Saver has four 3-year-olds this year who have already won or placed in stakes on the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Oaks (G1) trails.
