Sporting Chance became Tiznow’s 13th lifetime TDN Rising Star on July 22 when the 2-year-old colt powered his way to a 2 ¼-length maiden special weight win at 5 ½-furlongs (VIDEO).
When the gates opened, Sporting Chance sped out to battle for the lead with a trio of foes. After just a furlong, Sporting Chance took command and was never headed thereafter. The dark bay opened up some six lengths in mid-stretch before coasting home a confident winner in 1:04.72 on a fast track.
Sporting Chance banked $49,800 in his debut for owners Robert Baker and William Mack and trainer D. Wayne Lukas. The winner sold for $575,000 to his owners at the Keeneland September sale.
Tiznow’s roster of TDN Rising Stars includes the 2-year-old Champion Filly Folklore, Travers S. (G1) winner Colonel John, and the multiple graded stakes winner Donworth.
