Victim of Love, who broke her maiden by nearly a dozen lengths a month ago, turned in another top-notch performance in Sunday’s $75,000 Island Fashion S. at Sunland Park, drawing off late to win the one-mile affair by about two lengths [WATCH RACE].
The 3-year-old Speightstown town filly was making her stakes debut after the big maiden win. Last in the field of seven early on, she moved up to third at the halfway point, rallied three-wide on the turn, then pulled away with authority in the final furlong to secure the win.
Victim of Love is Speightstown’s fourth stakes horse of the year. With more than a 100 stakes winners around the world to his credit, Speightstown’s runners this year have surpassed the $1 million already in 2019. This past weekend he was also represented by the Hal’s Hope S (G3) runner-up Copper Town.
Daniel Burke’s Longford Farm purchased Spacy Tracy, Victim of Love’s dam, for $230,000 at the 2015 Keeneland November sale. The winner’s third dam, Daring Bidder, produced champion Eliza, whose daughter GSP Miss Doolittle produced Grade I winner Dialed In.
