Sharing’s authoritative score in Saturday’s $200,000 Selima S. set the 2-year-old Speightstown filly up for a possible run in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park.
Ridden with confidence by Manny Franco, Sharing was parked in third just outside the leaders for most of the 1 1/16-mile trip. Franco shook the reins at the top of the stretch, and Sharing quickly opened up a lead, then with another burst in the final sixteenth, pulled away to win by 2 1/2-lengths in 1:42.61 on the firm turf.
The chestnut filly is trained by Graham Motion for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gainesway Stable. Motion trained the filly’s dam, Shared Account, to victory in the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1).
“We’re hoping to get to the Breeders’ Cup. That’s why we came here. Hopefully, this race is a good steppingstone because it’s a $200,000 race. Hopefully, this will get us into the Breeders’ Cup,” Motion said.
Sharing is a half-sister to stakes winner Riley’s Choice, by Distorted Humor. Bred by Sagamore Farm, Sharing sold for $350,000 as a yearling the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale.
Sharing broke her maiden by a half-dozen lengths Aug. 18 at Saratoga on an off-the-turf event. She is Speightstown’s 11th stakes winner and 26th stakes horse overall this year.
