Dance to Bristol sped to a new stakes record today, winning her first Graded stakes in the $150,000 Bed o’ Roses S. (G3) at Belmont.
In winning her fifth straight race and fifth career stakes, Dance to Bristol flashed under the finish line in 1:20.81, not only a new stakes record, but just 4/5 off the seven-furlong track record set by Champion Left Bank back in 2002.
Dance to Bristol is one of eight stakes winners, 16 stakes horses this year for Speightstown, Kentucky’s #2 General Sire.
In the Bed o’ Roses, Dance to Bristol was off a step slow after stumbling at the break, but quickly settled into stride three wide. Given some rein near the quarter pole, she collared the leaders with a furlong to go, and had 2 3/4 lengths on the field at the wire.
Dance to Bristol was bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. David Garner, and races for Copperville Farm. Trained by Ollie Figgins III, she has earned $578,880, off an ultra consistent record of 16-8-7-0.
