Under Oath rallied strongly to break his maiden at Keeneland on Apr. 16 in his second lifetime start, earning the 3-year-old Speightstown colt a TDN Rising Star designation.
He is the 22nd lifetime Rising Star for Speightstown, who kicked off the Easter weekend in spectacular fashion on Friday when Shirl’s Speight won the Maker’s Mark Mile (G1) over the Keeneland turf course.
Under Oath, a WinStar Farm homebred, broke sharply before falling several lengths off the pace in the first quarter-mile. He began his rally midway on the final turn, coming five-wide into the stretch. He powered past the field and went on to win by 1 ½-lengths in 1:10.73 for the six furlongs on a fast track, good for an excellent Beyer Speed Figure of 87.
Under Oath is out of multiple graded stakes winner Jojo Warrior (herself a Rising Star), whose siblings include Grade 1 winner A Z Warrior, Grade 3 winner E Z Warrior, and four-time stakes winner J Z Warrior. Jojo Warrior is in foal to Speightstown for 2022.
