Door Buster overcame some early traffic trouble to win Saturday night’s $75,000 West Virginia Tourism Office Breeders’ Classic S. at Charles Town. (WATCH RACE)
The 3-year-old daughter of Speightster took the Sylvia Bishop Memorial S. in her previous outing and is now 5-2-2 in 11 starts. She is one of Speightster’s eight stakes horses this year. The WinStar stallion leads all Second-Crop sires by both winners, with 64, and wins, with 91.
Door Buster got caught up between and behind horses going into the first turn and had to check back. She was under a stout hold for the first three furlongs before she settled into a clear spot behind the leaders. She made her winning move at the top of the stretch and went by Moonlit Shadow in the last furlong to win comfortably by a length on the wire.
The winner is owned by Jay Reese and has now earned $192,550. Door Buster was bred by Catherine Jennings and Scott Mallory.
