First-Crop sire Tourist wrapped up the 2020 OBS March Sale of 2-year-olds in Training on Wednesday with a $145,000 colt consigned by de Meric Sales, agent.
The winning bidder for hip No. 620 was stalwart buyer Steve Young, agent.
The bay colt is just the second foal from the War Front mare Cara Dura and is from the immediate family of noted sire Exchange Rate.
The de Meric team noted they have been impressed with Tourist’s youngsters. “The Tourists are precocious and really moving well on the dirt,” said Tristan de Meric. “They look like horses that will stretch out and go long as well, but they’re sharp enough to go to the first 2YO sale of the year.”
Tourist has visited more than 300 mares in his first three seasons at stud. After running the fastest Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) in history, Tourist retired to WinStar Farm to join his sire Tiznow. He is standing the 2020 season for $7,500, stands and nurses.
