Sooner Time, a 2-year-old Sidney’s Candy filly, and Dragon Flower staged a stretch-long duel Thursday at Del Mar, with Sooner Time coming out on top to become the first multiple winner for her sire (VIDEO).
A Grade 1 winner of $1.1 million, Sidney’s Candy’s first crop of 2-year-olds have brought an average of $90,519 during the juvenile auction season, second-most of any sire represented by his first crop with at least 20 sold.
Sooner Time, who broke her maiden July 23 at Del Mar, is a half-sister to two-time stakes winner Red Hot Doll. She is out of Debit or Credit, whose siblings include Grade 3 winner Alke and five-time stakes winner Debit My Account.
