Fat Daddy, who had broken his maiden by nearly six lengths last month at Churchill Downs, galloped to a 1 ¾-length allowance win at Thistledown for his owner Tony Trusso. The bay 3-year-old was a $105,000 purchase at the OBS April 2016 2-year-old sale. The first foal out Ambitious Journey, Fat Daddy comes from the same female family as Kentucky Oaks (G1) heroine Blushing K. D.
Later in the evening, the filly Cool Jewel broke her maiden by an impressive 5 ¾-lengths for owner/breeder Bar None Ranches Ltd. The chestnut filly’s dam, Rebecca’s Song, banked more than $155,000 in her career.
