More Than Ready’s incredible stallion career hit another milestone on Saturday when Rushing Fall became a racing’s newest millionaire when she scored a convincing win in the $300,000 Lake Placid S. (G2) at Saratoga.
Winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1), the bay 3-year-old has won four graded stakes, five of six starts, and earned $1,008,000 e Five Racing Thoroughbreds.
Off since a very close second in the Edgewood S. (G3) May 4 at Churchill Downs, Rushing Fall couldn’t have been more impressive over Saratoga’s “soft” turf course. Well in hand under Javier Castellano while stalking Go Nani Go for six furlongs, Rushing Fall took command at will and never was threatened as she coasted home by 2 3/4-lengths over Capla Temptress (IRE).
“She ran great. She obviously handled the soft going well,” said her trainer Chad Brown. “We expected her to. Javier really rode a great race and adapted to the slow pace. He let her lay really close and a mile and an eighth may be a little far for her, but he really waited to push the button on her, and when he did, she really responded. I’m so proud of her.”
Brown said Rushing Fall could next run in the Grade 2 Sands Point on September 15 at Belmont Park.
The winner was bred by Fred Hertrich III and John Fielding. Her dam Autumnal has five winner, including stakes winner Milam and multiple stakes-placed Autumn Song.
