Ready to Repeat parlayed a July 12 maiden win into a 2 1/2-length victory in Sunday’s $100,000 Victoria S. at Woodbine, giving the 2-year-old son of More Than Ready his first stakes win.
More Than Ready, the all-time leading sire of Breeders’ Cup wins with seven, has over 200 lifetime stakes winners worldwide, while his progeny earnings have surpassed a remarkable $195 million. He has 13 stakes horses in 2020, led by Grade 1 winner Rushing Fall.
Ready to Repeat was making his stakes debut in the Victoria. He broke a tad slow, but recovered quickly and led the field nearly the entire trip, drawing away strongly in the stretch to stop the timer in 1:03.53 for the 5 1/2-furlongs on the Tapeta surface.
Said winning jockey Luis Contreras. “It was so windy today. But he just broke a little bit slow and when I asked him, he just [responded] right away.”
Ready to Repeat is owned by his trainer Gail Cox, along with John Menary, Michael Ambler and Windways Farm. Cox purchased the bay juvenile, who was bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, for $60,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale.
