Nilo’s Rose drew off smartly in the final furlong to break her maiden by a widening 2 ¾-lengths on Halloween day at Aqueduct.
The 2-year-old daughter of Promises Fulfilled is the fifth winner from the first crop of her Grade 1-winning sire. Promises Fulfilled, who defeated champion Whitmore on multiple occasions, will stand the 2025 season for $5,000 S&N.
Nilo’s Rose was making just her second lifetime start following a good second-place finish in her Sept. 28 debut. She was between horses in the early stages of the 6 ½-furlong contest before finding clear running in the three path nearing the stretch. She responded willingly to her rider down the lane and pulled away to stop the timer in 1:18.06 for the 6 ½-furlongs on a fast track.
The winner is owned by Beast Mode Racing LLC and was bred by WinStar Farm LLC. Nilo’s Rose is the first foal out of the stakes-placed Summer’s Indy, while her third dam is the Grade 1-winning millionaire Summer Colony.
