Poseidon’s Warrior rules $75K New Castle S.

Poseidon’s Warrior, a 3-year-old Speightstown colt, controlled the pace throughout the six furlong, $75,000 New Castle S. Oct. 15 at Delaware Park, pulling away in mid-stretch, then came home a comfortable 1 3/4-length winner.

The winning time for the six furlongs was an excellent 1:09.08, earning Poseidon’s Warrior a career best Beyer Speed Figure of 101.

This was the third stakes win for Poseidon’s Warrior; the dark bay colt won the $100,000 East Hanover S. in July at Penn National and the $167,000 NATC Futurity in 2010 at Monmouth Park.

Poseidon’s Warrior is a product of the 2010 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale, where he brought a winning bid of $90,000. Now owned by Swilcan Stable LLC, the Maryland bred is 5-2-1 in 12 starts, earning $339,917.

Bred in Maryland by Dark Hollow Farm and William Beatson, Poseidon’s Warrior is a half-brother to multiple stakes winners Play Bingo and Quick’n Smart.
