Monday’s opening session of the Keeneland September Yearling sale was a huge one for Pioneerof the Nile, with four lots bringing at least $500,000. For the day, he had a total of eight lots sell for a gross of $4,035,000, an average of $504,375.
Topping Monday’s offering’s for the WinStar stallion was hip No. 166, which sold for $825,000 to Stonestreet Stables. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, the bay colt is out of Edgewood S. winner Dynazaper.
Hip No. 133, a colt consigned by Lane’s End on behalf of Kinsman Farm, went to Fox Hill Farm for $600,000. The colt is out of A. P. Dream, a daughter to millionaire Dream Supreme and a sister Hopeful S. (G1) winner Majestic Warrior. The colt is also a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Wind Fire.
Just behind the colt was a $575,000 filly, hip No. 9, consigned by Legacy Bloodstock and purchased by Hugo Merry Bloodstock. Already named Flying Pioneer, her dam Flying Spur placed in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) and is out of four-time Grade 1 winner Lakeway.
Hip No. 12, consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, brought an even $500,000 from Horse France. The impeccably-bred filly is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Justwhistledixie, dam of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner New Year’s Day and the graded winner Mohaymen.
Pioneerof the Nile, who had a $1 million 2-year-old colt at the OBS March Selected sale, has a total of 62 yearlings cataloged in the sale, which runs through Sept. 23.
