Lazy Daisy will break from the middle of the gate in Friday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) after drawing post 5 in the field of nine 2-year-olds.
The Juvenile Fillies is race 7 on Friday, with a post time of 2:32 p.m. PT.
The daughter of Paynter earned her way into the 1 1/16-mile race with an impressive score in the Pocahontas S. (G2) in September at Churchill Downs, a race that marked her two-turn debut.
Trained by Doug O’Neill for ERJ Racing et al, Lazy Daisy is 2-0-0 in three starts and has banked $174,880. She’ll be ridden on Friday by Rafael Bejarano, who was aboard for her first two outings.
Lazy Daisy was bred in Kentucky by John Elder and the Paynter Syndicate. The deep female family includes graded stakes winners Valid Expectations and Little Sister and the multiple stakes winner Littleexpectations.
Paynter has produced 10 stakes horses this year and is in the top three on the Third-Crop Sire list. His first Breeders’ Cup starter was Knicks Go, who finished second in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) after winning the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland.
