Paynter’s first foal is a filly

The first foal by Grade 1 Haskell Invitational S. winner Paynter, a son of Horse of the Year Awesome Again, arrived Jan. 13 when a filly was born at Elm Tree Farm in Kentucky.

Bred by Curt Leake, the bay filly is out of the Malibu Moon mare Moon Meeting Too.

Campaigned by Zayat Stables, Paynter was electrifying from his very first start at Santa Anita, winning in hand. He was a determined second in the 2012 Belmont S. (G1) prior to his scintillating Haskell. In 2013, Paynter set a seven furlong track record at Hollywood Park and retired with $1,101,924 in earnings.

Paynter, bred by Diamond A Racing, is out of Tizso, a full sister to two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner and WinStar stallion Tiznow.

Paynter covered 127 mares in his first book in 2014. He will stand his second season at WinStar in 2015 for $25,000.
