Diamond Dust took the lead in the first furlong and never looked back en route to a four-length win in the $150,000 Juvenile S. on Saturday at Thistledown.
The 2-year-old Paynter filly won the Hoover S. earlier this summer and is now 3-2-0 in five starts for her owner/breeder tandem of Blazing Meadows Farm and WinStar Farm. Diamond Dust is one of Paynter’s four stakes winners for the top-five Second-Crop sire, who got his first Grade 1 winner last weekend when Knicks Go captured the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland.
Diamond Dust emerged from a scramble to take the lead going into the first turn of the 1 1/16-mile Juvenile, led the field of 13 through six furlongs in 1:15.20, then drew off in the lane to win handily over the sloppy going (VIDEO).
Diamond Dust’s dam Radiant Sky produced a Fed Biz colt in 2017 and a Tourist colt in 2018. She was bred back to Speightster, both who stand at WinStar. Diamond Dust’s third dam Danseur Fabuleux is the dam of champion and Breeder’s Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Arazi and a sister to Grade 1 winner Joyeux Danseur.
