Leave No Trace proved she was up to handling graded company once again in the $175,000 Vagrancy S. (G3) May 18 at Aqueduct with a determined score in the 6 ½-furlong contest for older fillies and mares.

The 4-year-old daughter of Outwork had plenty of back class from her 2-year-old campaign, when she won the Spinaway S. (G1) and placed in both the Frizette S. (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).  After an allowance win in March, the Vagrancy was to prove her direction for the rest of 2024.

Leave No Trace came away cleanly and pushed Beguine through fractions of :22.24 and :44.72. In upper stretch, Beguine began to weaken and Leave No Trace took advantage, taking over for good with a furlong to go. She held Big Pond at bay late to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:15.91 on a fast track.

“The allowance race she won in her last start kept her at the races rather than in the breeding shed,” winning trainer Phil Serpe said. “I thought this was the right group of fillies that if she could beat this group it would get her to the next level. There’s going to be tougher horses ahead for sure, but she did it right today.”

Leave No Trace has amassed a healthy $748,250 in her career and now sports a 4-1-1 record from 11 starts. She is owned by WellSpring Stables, who purchased her as a yearling at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale.

Leave No Trace was bred in Kentucky by Red Cloak Farm, LLC.

Grade 1 winner Outwork, a son of leading sire Uncle Mo, has progeny earnings of over $2 million this year. He stands in 2024 for $10,000 S&N.
