Abrogate backed up her stellar maiden debut win at Churchill Downs with another stylish outing Jan. 24 at Oaklawn Park, winning a six-furlong allowance by 1 1/2-lengths.
The 3-year-old daughter of Outwork is the fourth winner this year for her, who is the early leader on the Second-Crop Sire list. Outwork already has three stakes horses this year, most recently with Coffee Bar, who finished second in the $100,000 Busanda S. on Sunday as well.
Abrogate got away from the gate very well and was just off the flank of pacesetter Melting Snow as they made their way through a quarter in :22.78. Abrogate turned up the pressure on the turn and made the lead turning for home. Southern Grayce mounted a challenge on the outside, but Abrogate turned her away and pulled clear in deep stretch to finish the distance in 1:11.03 on a muddy track (VIDEO)?.
Abrogate was a $270,000 purchase by her owners Alex and Joann Lieblong at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling sale. She was bred by Sandra Sexton and Silver Fern Farm and through her third dam Riveting Drama is from the same family as champion Big Drama and multiple Grade 1 winner and $1.6 million earner Sheer Drama.
