Grade 1 winner Outwork’s first crop of yearlings have scored big returns during the middle portion of the Sept. 9-22 Keeneland Yearling sale, the latest coming on Monday when hip No. 1971 brought a winning bid of $270,000.
After Monday’s session completed, six of Outwork’s eight yearlings to sell brought at least six figures, with an average of $163,250, nearly 11 times his stud fee.
Consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, hip 1971 went to Mike Ryan, agent. The bay filly is out of Discreet Cat and is a half-sister to Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) winner Discreet Lover.
Outwork’s top seller so far at Keeneland came on Saturday when hip No. 1057, consigned by Paramount Sales Agency, went for $290,000 to Breeze Easy. The gray/roan colt is out of the stakes-placed Adore You and is a half-brother to stakes winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Pied Bianchi (Overanalyze) and stakes winner Mind Reader (Gemologist).
Outwork has 31 lots remaining in the sale, which runs through Sunday.
