Outwork got the first of his two stakes winners Sunday when the 3-year-old colt Outadore bested Jaxon Traveler by 1 1/4-lengths in the $125,000 Woodstock S. at Woodbine.
After being several lengths off the early pace in the six-furlong affair for 3-year-olds, Outadore made a bold three-wide move coming into the stretch to assume command. Jaxon Traveler was on nearly even terms with a furlong to run, but Outadore forged ahead late to finish the distance in 1:09.77.
“He broke sharp, he broke hard, but we were out-run, out-footed early,” said winning rider Justin Stein. “He settled into stride in behind and when I called on him, he really kicked. He dug in, he’s a runner. He’s a nice horse.”
Outadore is trained by Wesley Ward for Breeze Easy LLC. His previous stakes wins came in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Turf Sprint last September and the Animal Kingdom S. at Turfway Park this spring. He is now 4-0-1 in six starts and has earned $530,142.
Outadore was bred by Greg and Deanna Baer and is a half-brother to stakes winners Piedi Bianchi and Mind Reader. Outadore sold for $290,000 at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
