Geleta’s debut victory Monday at Parx gave Speightster his fourth winner and elevated him to the top of the First-Crop sire list of 2020 with more than $210,000 in progeny earnings to date.
Geleta, and Equivine Farm homebred, captured the five-furlong race by 1 1/2-lengths with a big closing move in the final furlong for trainer Ed Coletti, Jr. The bay filly is the latest of three winners out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Tweet, whose dam Courtly Kathy was a four-time stakes winner.
Speightster’s three previous winners also proved victorious in maiden special weights, with Fabricate going on to place in the $100,000 Debutante S. last weekend at Ellis Park.
