Nashville ready for stakes competition after scintillating Fair Grounds win

CHC Inc.’s and WinStar Farm’s Nashville, a 5-year-old son of Speightstown, blazed his way to a 4 ¾-length allowance win Friday at Fair Grounds (WATCH RACE).

His time of 1:08.61 for the six furlongs was the fastest of the meet and earned him a Beyer Speed Figure of 102, the third triple-digit number in his seven lifetime starts.

Nashville wasted little time getting to the lead on Friday, flying through a quarter-mile in :21.89 and a half-mile in :44.43. Despite being hand-ridden by Brian Hernandez, Jr. the entire trip, Nashville missed the track record by just a half-second.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Nashville won his first three lifetime starts, including the 2020 Perryville S., when he set the six-furlong track record of 1:07 4/5. After being sidelined for nearly all of last year, he is now 4-1-0 and has earned $229,600.

Nashville was bred in Kentucky by Breffni Farm.
