The brilliant 5-year-old mare Rushing Fall was named a finalist for the 2020 Turf Female Eclipse Award when the year-end award nominees were announced Saturday on TVG.
Rushing Fall had another stellar campaign in 2020, kicking it off with a victory in the Beaugay S. (G3) in June at Belmont Park. She then took the Jenny Wiley S. (G1) at Keeneland for the second year in a row, then scored a game victory in the Diana S. (G1) at Saratoga. She came up just a neck short of a perfect year when second in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1).
Despite the narrow defeat, the e Five Racing Thoroughbreds colorbearer was the model of consistency throughout her career, winning Grade 1 races in each of her four seasons. She finished with a record of 11-3-0 from 15 starts, with earnings of $2,893,000.
Rushing Fall is one of More Than Ready’s seven Breeders’ Cup race winners, the most of any sire in the history of the event. She was also one of her sire’s three Grade 1 winners in 2020.
The Eclipse Award winners will be announced on TVG, and other outlets, during a virtual ceremony of the 50th annual Eclipse Awards on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. ET.
