With none of his six lots to sell for less than $300,000 at the August 7-8 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearlings sale, More Than Ready’s sales average of $318,333 was among the best for all sires at the two-day auction.
Four of the six individuals sold during Tuesday’s session, led by hip No. 123, a colt consigned by Mill Ridge Sales agent and purchased by Lothenbach Stables for $310,000. The dark bay is out of A. P. Cindy and is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Lord Simba and the stakes-placed Lady of the Nile.
In an unusual coincidence, the other three lots sold on Tuesday for an identical price: $300,000, and were all purchased by different buyers. China Horse Club bought hip No. 209, a colt whos dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Majestic Warrior. Isabella de Tomaso was the winner on hip No. 214, whose first three dams are all stakes winners. Hip No. 219 went to Carrol Castille. The colt is out of Kivi and is a full brother to Grade 1 winner Regally Ready.
More Than Ready’s 2017 2-year-old sales results are topped by a $1.1 million colt and $1 million filly, while on the track his progeny have won stakes in six different countries and four continents.
