Paynter’s 4-year-old filly and veteran stakes performer has now won a half-dozen added-money races after a dramatic victory in the June 8 Obeah S. at Delaware Park.
Miss Leslie was last in the field of six fillies and mares for the first five furlongs of the 1 1/16-mile trip. She switched to the outside on the turn and began to pass horses with gusto. She was four-wide coming into the stretch and still had three lengths to make up in the final furlong. Despite wavering in deep stretch, she used one final burst to win by a half-length in 1:47.14.
The winner is owned by BB Horses and is now 9-3-2 in 21 starts, with earnings of $565,650. She was bred in Kentucky by Maxis Stable.
After finishing in the top 10 on the 2021 General Sire lIst, Paynter is responsible for nine stakes horse thus far in 2022.
