Maimonides 3yo colt draws off in Oaklawn’s $100,000 Gazebo S.

Brewing, a 3-year-old Zayat Stables homebred from the first crop of Maimonides, notched his second runaway win in a row on March 22, drawing away to score a decisive three-length victory in the $100,000 Gazebo S. at Oaklawn VIDEO.

Trained by D. Wayne Lukas, the speedy Brewing broke his maiden impressively at Oaklawn in February, earning a 92 Beyer. Off of that breakthrough victory, the dark bay colt successfully jumped into stakes company in the Gazebo, breaking sharply and running the field of eight off of their feet. He splashed home over the sloppy track in 1:10.45 for six furlongs under jockey Jon Court.

Brewing has now earned $94,931 in his young career for Zayat. Hailing from the first crop of Grade 1 juvenile Maimonides, the colt is out of the Johannesburg mare Fifty Mil Short.

Maimonides’s 2014 yearlings hail from the best book of mares bred by any North American stallion standing under $50,000, with a Comparable Index of 3.16 in 2012.
