Laudation gets up in the E. L. Gaylord Memorial S.

Laudation became Congrats’ latest black type winner with her win in the E. L. Gaylord Memorial S. at Remington Park on Friday, 10/13.

The filly was shuffled back on at the start of the 6 ½ furlong contest and ran on the inside rail while they set quick fractions of 22.13 for the opening quarter and 44.69 for the half. She saved ground on the turn and then jockey Ramon Vazquez angled her out to be five wide mid-stretch. With an eighth to go, the Steve Asmussen-trainee started changing gears and wore down the competition in the final strides of the race to win it by a neck. (VIDEO)

This win brings the 2-year-old to two wins and one third from five lifetime starts, with earnings of $64,440. Her other win came in a 3-length romp in maiden special weight company at Churchill Downs in the end of June.

The filly was bred by Woodford Thoroughbreds in Kentucky, out of the G2-winning mare Rite Moment. Laudation became her dam’s second black type winner from four named foals and became her sire’s, Congrats, 29th black type winner.
